Painted in the Swedish forest near the Baltic Sea. ‘Daughter cell’ is a reflection that we are all born with a soft, agile and open demeanour. The edges of the moon jellyfish is painted with plastic as a represenatation of how through living the edges become harder and stiffer. I look at my children and remind myself ‘to keep their jelly as soft as possible for as long as possible’.

The raw canvas was plunged in the Thames and worked on by the shore of the river. It is dirty and filled with debris of us. I struggle to see beyond the water surfaces. She sits on secrets and unknown. She silently listens to us and living with us. A contemplation of time. Water tides has an undeniable effect (affect) on us. Its literal effect of gravity, magnetic pull and cycles but also the metaphorical tides forming us as humans. Further the quote of ‘Time and tide wait for no-man’ sprung to my mind. The idea of water eroding the surroundings, creating patina of age, reforming and replenishing. It portrays eternity, infinity and passing of time. Maybe in an almost spiritual way the water shows us: we are equal and we will all die.
